Thank you for donating towards our Backpack drive

in News

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

YOU, I mean all of you generous people who donated gentle used clothing and accessories, participated in our Fundraiser (Taste of Africa), offered us reduced fee for exhibitions, you made them smile. These 52 children are orphans because of the Ebola epidemic that plagued Sierra Leone in 2014 and 2015. As you have refreshed these precious lives, you will be refreshed.

On behalf of NewLife Project Team and Valnora Edwin of Sierra Leone War Trust for Children, thank you. To my dear volunteers who helped us with pick up, packing and shipping,
MERCI BEAUCOUP.

Below is the report from Valnora Edwin

In December 2019, the Sierra Leone War Trust for Children received a shipment of seven boxes from our partner NewLife Project Inc. It contained used clothing and shoes, toys, books, bag packs, and stationery. These contributed to supporting the needs of children who are orphans or lost a breadwinner parent because of the Ebola epidemic that plagued Sierra Leone in 2014 and 2015.

We have titled the intervention ‘Give them a smile’ to reflect the joy and pleasure in the faces of 52 children when receiving clothes, books, toys or a bag pack. This has contributed to reinstating dignity in many lives especially as we organized the distribution during the Christmas party we schedule on an annual basis. We also provided food, Christmas hats, and additional toys as Christmas gifts though Santa was
conspicuously absent. We organized dancing competitions and musical chairs and offered some of the items as gifts to the winner and runner up. It was an exciting occasion with the caregivers jumping, clapping inspiring their children to dance well or focus on the chairs to ensure they emerge as the winner.

The caregivers expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the New Life Project for the
kind donation and offered special prayers for the continued success of the organization. They assured that the gifts provided will be utilized by the children.

SLWT is a volunteer-based, Non-Profit Organization that relies solely on the generosity of well-wishers as yourselves for financial support and needed materials. Our interventions include providing direct services such as school fees, uniforms, shoes, socks, books, and stationery,
medical care, home, and school monitoring, educational visits (museum, etc.).

Blessings.
