About Us

NewLife – Empowering Women

NewLife Project is a Not-for-Profit Organization, founded by Brenda Williams in Freetown, Sierra Leone with the goal of reaching out to economically disadvantaged women. The project was birth from an evangelical campaign in 1994 with a dedication to bring new life to at risk women and children.

NewLife Project has touched the lives of hundreds of women, men and children in different communities in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone through our Vocational Training Programs, Rehabilitation Centre, organized Health Clinics and International Relief Programs. In Canada, we have teamed up with other organizations and Shelters to reach out to the Ottawa community via various programs including Clothes Drive Project and Women’s World Forum which is geared towards empowering women in North America.

Our training and rehabilitation programs have transformed lives of young women to that of economic independence and high self-esteem with new acquired skills. We have also witnessed the transformation of individuals from undesirable lifestyle, poverty, and illiteracy to leading successful lives and owning their own businesses. The training and rehabilitation programs have resulted in stronger women, stronger families, and hence stronger communities.

Where we work:

West Africa: Sierra Leone, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire
North America: USA: Washington DC and Canada: Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec

NewLife Project was initially registered as a charitable organization in April 2001 with the Government of Sierra Leone under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs. In 2009, NewLife Project was certified by the Ministry of Education in Sierra Leone. After recognizing the impact and success of the women’s rehabilitation program, NewLife launched its Scholarship Trust in June 2009 in the USA with 501(c) 3 Tax Exempt Status. In August of that same year, NewLife Project Inc. was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization under the Ministry of Territorial Administration in Cote d’Ivoire.
